Little Bird
By Katrin

A little bird sat singing sweet,
When from behind came silent feet.
A monster crept without a sound,
The bird fell gasping to the ground.
He took her gently, locked the gate,
A cage of comfort, dressed by fate.
But time slipped by, life fades too fast—
He broke her neck to end it last.
Then kneeling down with heavy breath,
He whispered soft in face of death:
“We’ll meet again, another day—
In some new life, not far away.”
